Cynthia Lau the designer and maker of Cynthier jewellery aims to create quirky & edgy pieces of statement jewellery that can become extensions of the wearer's style & outfit.
I love moulding colours, beads & fabrics together into creations of wearable art & jewellery.
I am inspired by nature, futuristic themes, music & movies which reflect my quirky & edgy style.
My mum was the first to expose me to the wonderful world of art & craft by giving me paint & brushes. She taught me how to sew, gave me fun cross stitch & tapestry projects to do. Since childhood I have learnt other crafts, and studied fashion design at university. I first discovered a bead shop after high school & the lady there taught me basic jewellery making techniques. From then on I have experimented & self taught different jewellery making techniques, fusing these with sewing & fashion techniques.
Aside from my craft, I enjoy travelling, going to the movies, listening to live music & cocktails!
My advise to others is to follow your passion & let your personality be expressed in your art. This is the visual connection that you can make with people who see your art. If they share a connection with your art, they will want to get to know you more & let you into their lives.
I’m taking the next steps to move my passion & craft into a successful business and share my personality with more people.
If you love edgy and quirky jewellery, you have to visit Cynthier at the Dreamers Market on Saturday, 15th December!
