Dreamer Spotlight: Badger Lane

Meet the talented sisters, Juliet and Laura ...

Tell me something about yourself?
We’re two sisters who sew, print and make their own trinkets to sell at the markets and online. We teach others our craft in regular workshop sessions we run.

What are your sources of inspiration?
Forests, colours, light and sounds. We like things with a strong sense of childhood nostalgia.

Where and when did you learn your craft? Who taught you?
Our mother and grandmother were both seamstresses. Juliet studied Dress and Patternmaking through TAFE and Laura studied under the Screen Printing Apprenticeship course. The rest we learnt from practicing and experimenting on our own.
Aside from your craft, what else do you enjoy doing?
Listening to music, picnicking, and generally being around friends and family.

What piece of advise can you give to other artists?
Practice your craft and work hard to create things that bring not only you but others joy.
What are your plans for the future?

We’re currently putting together a workshop space in Newtown that will allow us to rent sewing and printing facilities to people and allow us to run workshops more easily. Like us on facebook or join our mailing list to stay in the loop about this little venture. Other than that, we’re working on some new designs for the year and looking forward to future markets.
Check out Badger Lane at the Dreamers Market on Saturday, March 16th.
